bg-logoScience and Technology at Lancaster University welcomes applications from all students looking to start PhD study in October 2014. Science and Technology at Lancaster – Engineering, Lancaster Environment Centre, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, Psychology, the School of Computing and Communications and the newly created department of Chemistry – is at the forefront of the growth and development of research at the University.

Faculty scholarships provide full tuition fees, a generous stipend and access to a research training grant and are available to both home/EU and overseas applicants. Externally funded studentships offered by NERC, EPSRC and BBSRC are also available, giving applicants the chance to work in the established STOR-I and NOWNANO Doctoral Training Centres, and to be part of the newly created NERC funded Envision Doctoral Training Partnership.

PhD scholarships will support exceptional students who would like to carry out research in all areas of Science and Technology, working alongside leading experts in their field. The Science and Technology Graduate School is home to a thriving and vibrant community of around 440 postgraduate research students. It offers a comprehensive Research Development Programme offering high-quality training opportunities closely aligned with the Researcher Development Framework.

Lancaster University is consistently ranked within the top 1%of universities worldwide. In the last Research Assessment Exercise 92% of research was found to be at an international level, ranking Lancaster 15th out of 147 institutions in the amount of research deemed to be world leading.
